Day of Remembrance

A project in partnership with Friends of Japantown, the Wing Luke and Densho, located between Maynard and 6th Avenues on Jackson St. The mural commemorates the WWII forced removal and incarceration of Seattle’s and other Japanese American communities; continues to place-mark the historical Japantown/Nihonmachi neighborhood; beautifies this alley; and provokes conversation and action regarding the approximately 50,000 immigrants currently incarcerated in government detention centers, many of them children and families and the thousands of other families that remain separated by the Muslim Ban, prisons, deportations, and the newly militarized border.
Gratitude to Densho for featuring this wall in their Day of Remembrance blog post here.
