My best friend Sam gave me a Sketchbook Project sketchbook as a gift to encourage me to start drawing more. I decided to illustrate a series of bathers — or, swimmers. I explored both familiar and new media and felt a creative burst that carried me through a long NYC winter! I’m interested in the forms of old and new swimwear, and I love being in the ocean for relaxation, healing and pleasure. The sea also serves as a personal metaphor for constant change, unpredictability and movement as I embarked on a move to Seattle, after 19 years of living in and loving Brooklyn.
